KFC/Taco Bell

The KFC/Taco Bell of Greenville RI is a very important part of the Town of Smithfield’s growth and expansion over the years. The KFC was originally opened back in 1983 by the founder and current owner, Ken Rianna and his wife, Irene. Ken and his wife were what defined the working class of this country, Irene ran the store during the day and Ken came home after a long day of running another store to close his store so that his wife could take the kids home. The two did this everyday, seven days a week, for several years. Ken’s son, Robert, started working at KFC when he was 14 as a cook. He and Ken now own and operate the store together. Last year Ken and Rob decided to shut down the store to rebuild a completely brand new store because they felt that the old one was falling apart and needed to be refinished. The new store is a very special KFC, it is very unique in the fact that it is one of three like it in the whole country. The interior, exterior and technology in the store is special and is what draws a lot of people, even from different states, to come see it. The products at KFC, while still keeping old traditions, are always changing to fit the needs and desires of the customers and people of a Smithfield.
